Phenergan injectable solution is an antihistamine (a medicine for allergic reactions) to the base of promethazine (the active substance).

It belongs to the family of phenothiazines.

Phenergan injection solution is used by your doctor as treatment is supportive, and to treat anaphylactic reactions.

It comes to severe allergic reactions and potentially fatal, caused by, among others, food (such as milk, peanuts, shellfish, ...), drugs, insect stings (e.g., bees, or wasps), and so on.

Always make sure to use this medicine in exact accordance with the indications of your doctor or pharmacist.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist in case of doubt.

The ampoules are for administration by intramuscular injection deep into a muscle ().

Adults

Phenergan injection solution is restricted to the case of an emergency. Your doctor may be used as a supportive treatment of anaphylactic reactions (severe allergic reactions to certain substances).

The recommended dose is 25 to 50 mg (1/2 to 1 ampoule).

Your doctor will inject Phenergan injection solution in the muscles.

If you have used more Phenergan than you should

If you have used too much of Phenergan, take immediately contact with your doctor, pharmacist or the Poison Center (070/245.245).

If you have used too much Phenergan, you may present the following symptoms :

depression and coma, which may possibly precede a period of excitation and convulsions.

A fever and redness of the skin are more rare. The treatment must be carried out in a hospital environment.

The risk of overdose increases in case of simultaneous use of this medication with alcohol or other drugs acting on the central nervous system (sleeping pills, sedatives, medicines, anaesthetics, some pain relievers, etc.).
