Vectavir cream is used in the treatment of cold sores (Herpes labialis). Herpes labialis is caused by a viral infection. The virus can remain inactive for extended periods of time, but in the case of activation, the virus multiplies and a cold sore develops.

An activation of the virus can occur, for example, when you're tired, if you have a cold or a flu, or if you are exposed to the sun extensively. The virus causes the appearance of painful blisters at the lip.

Vectavir contains penciclovir and is an antiviral medicine which stops the multiplication of the virus. The application of Vectavir cream allows for a more rapid healing of your cold sores, and a reduction of the duration of the pain. The length of time for your cold sores is
infectious will also be shorter, even if the application of Vectavir cream will not stop the spread of your cold sores to another person.

You should talk to your doctor if you do not feel any improvement or if you feel less good 4 days.

The active substance is ‘penciclovir’. One gram of cream contains 10 mg of penciclovir.

The other ingredients are white paraffin, liquid paraffin, cetostearyl alcohol, propylene glycol, cétomacrogol 1000 and purified water.

Use the cream as soon as possible, as soon as the onset of early symptoms (tingling and itching). Nevertheless, we can still apply the cream after the onset of the first signs of cold sores. Always wash hands before and after application of the
cream. Squeeze a small amount of cream on your fingertip and apply it on the affected area. Possibly, you can apply the cream using an applicator for single use (for packaging that are equipped with these applicators).

Apply the cream about every 2 hours during the day (approximately 8 times per day), for 4 consecutive days.

You should consult your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen at any time, or if your cold sores do not improve after 4 days of treatment.
