The system of self-monitoring of blood glucose, the OneTouch Verio® is designed for the quantitative measurement of glucose (sugar) in fresh capillary whole blood. The system OneTouch® Vita® should be used in external use (in vitro diagnostic use only) by people with diabetes at their home, or by health professionals in a medical environment, as élémentde monitoring of the effectiveness of a treatment against diabetes. It is not suitable for diagnosis of diabetes or auxtests on the new-born.

The glucose content in the blood sample is mixed with specific chemical components of the test strip to produce a small electric current, because its intensity varies according to the amount of glucose present in the blood sample. The reader measures the intensity of the current, calculates the blood glucose level, displays the result and keep it in memory.
