Zinc acetate (0.3%) bind to hydrogen sulfide (H2S) to form sulphides insoluble odorless.
The diacetate of chlorhexidine (0.025%) breaks down the méthylmercaptane (CH3SH) and dimethylsulfide ((CH3)2SH) and thus enables the zinc to bind more readily to the molecules of sulphur. Chlorhexidine has the unique ability to adhere to the oral mucosa, tongue, and teeth, and exerts therefore a long-lasting effect.
