The Folavit 0.4 is a dietary supplement that contains 400 µg of folic acid per tablet.

. 1 tablet per day with water at meal times.. We would recommend to all women who want to have a baby to take 400 µg of folic acid daily at least one month before conception and up to three months after conception. There are other risk factors for the occurrence of neural tube defects so well that the administration of folic acid cannot be completely ruled out.. Should be a to be taken during the entire pregnancy.. Suitable for older people deficient in folic acid.. Do not use as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.. Do not exceed the dose of 1 tablet Folavit 0.4 per day.. Keep out of reach of children.

. The administration of folic acid increased folate status in women. A low folate status in pregnant women increases the risk of occurrence of neural tube defects in the developing fetus. A neural tube defect is a congenital disorder caused by an abnormal formation of the central nervous system (e.g. spina bifida).. Folic acid plays a role in the process of cell division and contributes to tissue growth of maternal during pregnancy. In addition, folic acid contributes to normal blood formation. Folic acid contributes to the increase of the mass of red blood cells, the formation of the placenta and the growing fetus, uterus and breasts during pregnancy.. Folic acid contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system and to psychological functions normal, such as concentration, learning, memory, reasoning, and stress resistance. In addition, folic acid helps to reduce fatigue. The folic acid intake may be lower in the elderly, for example due to a decreased appetite.. Folic acid contributes to the normal metabolism of homocysteine. Homocysteine is an amino acid that is produced by the body and is normally converted to methionine, an essential amino acid, component of protein. The production of methionine from homocysteine, folate-dependent, is made by the transfer of a methyl group from 5-methyltetrahydrofolate to B12 and then to homocysteine to form methionine.
