Under shrub, perennial, up to 30 cm in height. It has small, lanceolate leaves curled on the edges. The stem is woody and branches are ascending. The flowers are pink whitish, grouped in inflorescence dense. Thymus vulgaris ct thymol is one of the six chemotypes of thyme identified by Passet, Granger and Vernet and al., It is present in the south of France (mainly in Provence) on a calcareous soil.
